Oxalates are found in the vegetable kingdom and are little crystals that your body makes from food. The highest sources are found in spinach, almonds, and legumes.

Dr. Martin reviews a new study showing that oxalates can be bad news for some. The study is saying that dietary oxalates can be a factor in heart disease if you don't eat them with calcium. They can cause hardening of your arteries.

Join Dr. Martin in today’s episode to learn all about oxalates and why they can be bad news.

Dr. Martin reviews an interesting study on omega-3 and metabolic syndrome.

We have about a 30:1 ratio of omega-6 over omega-3s and the biggest reason for that are crappy carbohydrate vegetable oils. When you consume so many omega-6s, your body starts an inflammatory process. This is bad.

Join Dr. Martin in today’s episode to learn the benefit of increasing your omega-3 intake and decreasing your omega-6.

We’ve always been told that calories are important and to lose weight you need to eat less and move more. Dr. Martin has always fought this idea as they’re not taking into account insulin, estrogen, or a sluggish thyroid.

Dr. Martin wants you eating nutrient-dense foods. When you do this, calories are irrelevant because you need less food to feel full. An example is one slice of pizza that has the equivalent calories of eating 9 eggs. We usually eat more than 2 slices of pizza, so the caloric intake is like eating 2 dozen eggs!

Join Dr. Martin as he discusses calories and why we don’t count them on The Reset!

Dr. Martin is a history guy. He loves history and especially the history of food. It makes up a big part of his education and it’s why he wants to teach nutrition to the world.

It was 1955 when President Eisenhower had a heart attack while playing golf. This is when a pathologist at the University of Minnesota, Ancel Keys, first became known. He claimed that cholesterol and saturated fat had caused Eisenhower’s heart attack. Keys went on to become the leading doctor when it came to cholesterol and food.

President Eisenhower’s heart attack changed the world because it set us on a track of hammering down cholesterol and changing the foods we eat. It turns out that the heart attack wasn't caused by diet, but rather cigarette smoking.

‘Follow the science’ has become a catch phrase in recent years and it’s often used when people don’t want to be questioned. Our health care is really not following the science either, especially when it comes to prevention of disease.

Our bodies are built to handle stress but for short periods of time, not long-term. When we’re stressed, cortisol kicks in, but when it doesn’t shut off, it can be detrimental to your body. Dr. Martin talks about 6 things that can happen when you have high circulating cortisol.

Join Dr. Martin as he talks about the effects of stress on your body in today’s episode!

March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month and Dr. Martin thinks it’s important to talk about it. Colorectal cancer is an extremely dangerous cancer and it’s affecting young people like nobody's business.

Early detection is used to detect colorectal cancer, but if you’re under 50 in Canada, they’re not yet doing colonoscopies on you. Those that are diagnosed are almost always told they’re not getting enough fiber in their diet, when this isn’t the case.

Join Dr. Martin in today’s episode as he discusses what’s really happening with the sharp increase in cases of colon cancer.

In 1943, the average testosterone in men was 1400. By 2013 it was averaging 400. In the article Dr. Martin flagged, researchers are calling this 1000 point drop a “pandemic.”

Dr. Martin agrees with that statement as he witnessed the drop in his own clinic. In addition, the trend has been that men now have more estrogen than their wives at the age of 50. This is not a good thing!

Researchers have found a way to predict whether someone is going to have a stroke or not. This is major news that Dr. Martin thinks everyone needs to hear!

The study is measuring the ratio of triglycerides and glucose to determine the amount of plaque found in your carotid arteries. Your carotid arteries go right along the side of your neck to feed blood to your brain. If they’re finding plaque here, it’s about guaranteed it's happening elsewhere around your heart.

Join Dr. Martin to hear more about your chances of having a stroke and what to do to prevent plaque build-up in your arteries!

Join Dr. Martin as he makes the case for eliminating cereal from our diets!
