A recent study is saying that 340,000 deaths in the United States and 480,000 deaths in Europe in the last year were preventable. The researchers have concluded that these people died of a lack of sun exposure!

The headline, Insufficient Sun Exposure Has Become a Real Health Problem, appeared in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health. The study lists 4 reasons why people are not getting enough sun, and the number one reason is that they’re scared of the sun!

Join Dr. Martin as he unpacks this fascinating study and shares the 4 reasons why people aren’t getting enough sun.

Dr. Martin continues his series on fungus in today’s episode. The CDC announcement about deadly fungal infection spreading at an alarming rate made the mainstream media. Dr. Martin says he saw it at least 10 more times over the weekend.

Why are we seeing so many autoimmune diseases today? Dr. Martin says it’s because of fungus. Doctors are trained to look for bacteria and viruses. It seems they never got the memo on how dangerous yeast and candida can be!

Join Dr. Martin as he teaches on the immune system and why it’s so important to build it up to protect against these deadly fungal infections.

Mar 31, 2023

The CDC in the United States is reporting that deadly fungal infections are growing at an alarming rate. The cause is iatrogenic, meaning it’s caused by medicine, and in this case they’re referring to the overuse of antibiotics.

Dr. Martin isn’t surprised at this news as he has often talked about yeast and candida. When you use an antibiotic, it wipes out both the good and bad bacteria in your gut. Dr. Martin will never tell a patient not to take an antibiotic, but just realize you need to follow up with a probiotic to restore the good guys in your microbiome.

Join Dr. Martin as he discusses the harm fungus in our bodies can cause in today’s episode!

Building muscle is the one of the most important things you can do metabolically, and it doesn’t matter how old you are, you got to get stronger! Muscle is key, and a new study has found the importance of muscle in preventing chronic disease.

Dr. Martin says with all the research coming together, muscle mass should be viewed as an important vital sign. The number one cause of disability in older adults is sarcopenia, which is muscle wasting.

Join Dr. Martin as he shares several studies on muscle strength, and even one on salt and its connection to insulin resistance.

An article Dr. Martin read in a medical journal says that they’re seeing big problems with underdevelopment of the jaw in kids today. Dr. Martin found the article quite fascinating because the reason is that kids are not eating enough meat.

The article went on to say that the underdevelopment of the jaw is one of the reasons they’re seeing so many sleep disorders and airway obstructions in kids.

Join Dr. Martin as he talks about steak, and red meat in general, in today’s episode and why it’ll save your life!

Mar 24, 2023

If you remember what statin drugs do, they lower cholesterol, and specifically LDL cholesterol. Dr. Martin has never understood why you’d want to have low cholesterol when your body actually needs it.

Dr. Martin looks at 3 studies on statin drugs published in the last week, and it’s not good news. From depleting your immune system, to increasing your risk of breast cancer, to being more susceptible to autoimmune diseases like lupus, this is all possible when you lower your LDL cholesterol.

Mar 23, 2023

According to the BBC, the oceans are filled with 171 trillion pieces of plastic! Dr. Martin says we live in a different world now. Plastic is everywhere and our bodies view that as estrogen. Breast cancer for women and prostate cancer for men is now rampant.

But there is some good news. It turns out that exercise, vitamin E, can help our bodies to better cope. Our focus needs to be to get stronger.

Join Dr. Martin as he goes over 4 different studies on exercise in today’s episode.

Dr. Martin looks at some new studies on depression. He has often spoken of vitamin E, exercise, and it turns out it’s as effective as taking drugs in treating anxiety and depression. Also, with vitamin S, steak, people who eat red meat are 50% less likely to get depression. And finally, a sobering stat is that 1 in 5 people in the US will go through major depression!

Three studies on dementia also came out in the last week. The studies looked at fruits and vegetables versus fish and red meat, refined carbs, and high fructose corn syrup for increasing your risk of dementia and Alzheimer’s.

Join Dr. Martin as he goes through a hodgepodge of studies in today’s episode.

Mar 20, 2023

A recent headline is saying keto causes heart attacks. Even though Dr. Martin isn’t big on the keto diet, he urges listeners to unpack these studies and not take them at face value. It turns out the unpublished non-peer reviewed study didn’t even use a real keto diet in their assessment.

There’s no doubt that the keto diet has become very popular, but Dr. Martin says it’s been hijacked. The original keto, or ketosis diet from the 1920’s was high fat, low carb. The keto diet of today is more artificial than it is natural. In that case, yes, eating all that garbage could possibly give you a heart attack.

Join Dr. Martin as he unveils the truth behind keto and why you want to be careful with it.

Mar 17, 2023

Dr. Martin continues his talk on factors that age you faster in today’s episode. The study from the Gerontology Society of America named 8 factors. Dr. Martin continues with ways to stop accelerated aging.

Dr. Martin also shares another study that’s showing how mitochondria is linked to major depression in older adults. The cells’ battery packs are no longer producing enough energy. The end result is accelerated aging in the brain.

Mar 16, 2023

The Gerontology Society of America has published a list of 8 factors that age you faster. Dr. Martin says it’s a surprising list because six of the factors have to do with metabolic syndrome. Metabolic syndrome is food, and 93% of the population has some form of metabolic syndrome.

Join Dr. Martin as he goes over the 8 reasons for aging more quickly… but don’t worry, Dr. Martin also shares how to slow down aging in today’s episode!

If you've followed Dr. Martin for any period of time, you’ve probably heard him use the example of a ballpoint pen to talk about cancer. For a tumor to get the size of the tip of a ballpoint pen it takes 5 years… and it turns out that Princeton agrees!

A new study out of Princeton University is saying that the metabolizing of cancer is, “as slow as molasses.” It never happens overnight and by the time you can detect it, it’s already been growing. The second part of the study is saying that cancer needs fuel. Princeton agrees that a tumor cannot survive when it’s fed nutrients, vitamins, and amino acids. It needs glucose to grow, and when you feed your body the right fuel, you're not feeding cancer.

Join Dr. Martin as he unpacks this study that validates what he’s been saying for 50 years!

Everyone thinks fructose is good for you because it sounds healthier. Fructose implies fruit, and fruit is good for you, right? Well, that may not be the case. Research is showing how fructose is metabolized in your liver almost identically to alcohol. We all know you need to be careful with alcohol because of the risk of damage to your liver.

Dr. Martin discusses several studies on how fructose is a lot worse than we think. Instead of being used for energy, fructose is instead being stored in our bodies. Dr. Martin uses the example of bears who can eat up to 30,000 berries a day. Bears are storing fructose on purpose for their hibernation. It’s not being used for energy like glucose would be.

Dr. Martin says fructose is a horrendous man-made sugar, and explains why in today’s episode. It’s important to learn the differences between fructose and glucose.

Mar 10, 2023

Dr. Martin reviews some new research on sugar alcohols. Years ago, studies showed how erythritol was one of the better sugar alcohols because it didn't elevate insulin almost at all. Other sugar alcohols like xylitol and maltitol also had similar benefits.

This study is showing how erythritol in particular seems to have a connection with cardiovascular events. It can be hard on your heart. Dr. Martin used to caution people about sugar alcohols. The thing is they're not really sugar and they're not really alcohol. Your body doesn't really know what to do with it, so it has a hard time digesting it.

Dr. Martin’s takeaway for sugar alcohols is to be careful with them. Don’t live on them. Join Dr. Martin in today’s episode to learn more!

If you’ve been at the grocery store lately, you may be surprised at the price of eggs. Dr. Martin is worried the increased price will deter people from trying the Reset. To encourage you to keep eating eggs, Dr. Martin shares 3 convincing studies in today’s episode.

A Greek study is saying that eating eggs 1 to 3 times a week can decrease your risk of heart disease by nearly 50%. Another study about choline is saying that eggs decrease your risk of Alzheimer's. The third study about tryptophan says eating eggs increases serotonin levels.

These are some amazing benefits of eating eggs! Join Dr. Martin as he teaches on cholesterol and shares why eggs have been vilified.

Join Dr. Martin to learn 10 ways to help improve your sleep!

Mar 6, 2023

Did you know that 70% of the population has trouble sleeping? The more researchers study sleep, the more they realize how important it is. So much so that 5 different studies on sleep have come out in the last 48 hours!

When you don’t sleep properly, things start to happen in the body. Dr. Martin looks at all 5 of the studies that highlight what happens when you’re not getting enough sleep. From buildup of plaque in the arteries, to cellular aging of DNA, to teens consuming more sugar, not regularly getting enough sleep can be quite harmful to our bodies.

Join Dr. Martin to hear more of the latest research on sleep in today’s episode!

Mar 3, 2023

Did you know that the average toddler laughs 40 times a day, whereas the average 40 year old laughs only 3 times a day? This is from an article in Psychology Today that Dr. Martin has quoted before.

From the recent Probiota Conference in Barcelona, a study with clinical significant results caught Dr. Martin’s eye. The study looked at probiotics and depression and discovered there’s a big connection between the gut and the brain. Those taking broad spectrum probiotics versus the placebo showed big changes in their mental health.

Join Dr. Martin as he teaches on probiotics and shares the 7 biomarkers he looks at when dealing with depression.

Mar 2, 2023

New research is contradicting what was written about colon cancer in the medical textbooks Dr. Martin has from the late 60’s and early 70’s. The old textbooks say that colon cancer is caused by age and genetics. That’s not true anymore.

The new research is saying it’s lifestyle. Colon cancer is caused by lifestyle choices. Dr. Martin is shocked that researchers are finally starting to see this!

Colon cancer is one of the big killers today and according to the research, there are 3 main causes: gut inflammation, C. difficile, and low vitamin D! Join Dr. Martin as he discusses each cause in today’s episode.
