Dr. Martin answers a few more questions from last Friday’s Q&A in today’s episode:

Don’t miss Dr. Martin’s in-depth answers to these questions!

In the last episode, Dr. Martin didn’t get to all the questions and wanted to answer another asking how to prevent a brain aneurysm. Dr. Martin groups the question with how to prevent a stroke as both conditions have to do with your blood vessels.

Dr. Martin goes over an anatomical chart that lists what can put you at risk of aneurysm or stroke. High blood pressure, heart disease, and hardening of arteries, all put you at risk. You want to keep your blood vessels healthy, which means keeping them open and without damage.

A lot of people have damage in their blood vessels, and they don't even know it. The best way to have healthy blood vessels is to change your diet. Although the concept is simple, it’s not going to be easy but it will be worth it.

The selling of sickness is big business! From big pharma to big food, if you’ve been watching for the last 18 months, you know how much these large companies influence our society.

Dr. Martin shares a study that followed three groups of people for 6 years. The participants were placed in the different groups based on their metabolic biomarkers. The healthiest group, not a single person developed a chronic disease. The third “unhealthy” group had significantly higher rates of cancer, cardiovascular disease, heart attack, and stroke.

The study serves to show the importance of optimizing your metabolic biomarkers, something Dr. Martin has been teaching for years!

Did you know that 50 to 60% of North Americans have a non-alcoholic fatty liver? Your body would rather have a fatty liver than high blood sugar or diabetes.

Dr. Martin looks at a study showing that Alzheimer's may begin in the liver. They discovered that in the presence of a fatty liver, toxic proteins were released and made their way through the bloodstream into the brain. This created inflammation in the brain and caused damage.

Dr. Martin uses this study to talk about the importance of detoxing your liver.

It’s becoming evident how out of touch oncology departments are when it comes to giving nutrition advice to cancer patients. Most doctors know very little about nutrition, and many still don’t see the correlation between food and disease.

In Northern Ontario, the major cancer centre is located in Sudbury. Nurses working in the oncology department used to give Dr. Martin’s Perfect Smoothie recipe to patients who had no appetite. The hospital got wind of this and put a stop to it. They in turn created their own info sheet to be given to patients when they left the hospital.

Dr. Martin discusses the 12 nutrition myths they came up with in today’s episode. From consuming sugar to low-carb diets, to juicing and probiotics, it’s unfortunate how many misconceptions are still prevalent today!

As we head into Fall, now is the time to be taking your natural flu shot. That’s right, you want to be strengthening your immune system, your body’s natural flu shot!

Dr. Martin shares how to prepare your immune system for the traditional start of cold and flu season. He gives 5 preventative measures you can take now. From supplementing with vitamin D, taking probiotics, and changing your diet, all of these things help.

Dr. Martin even throws in an extra thing you can be doing… but you’ll need to listen to today’s episode to learn that one.

In a previous episode, Dr. Martin encouraged listeners not to ditch dairy, but instead to switch it. He’s never been a fan of grocery store milk. They’ve denatured it, removing the fat and making it too sweet. He wants you instead to be eating cheese and butter.

Dr. Martin shares a study looking at the connection between dairy and cardiovascular disease. The researchers thought they were going to find that dairy clogs up your arteries... but they found the opposite! Dairy fat actually diminishes your risk of cardiovascular disease.

Dr. Martin also talks about the importance of vitamin K2. Don’t miss part two of this discussion!

Glutamine is the most abundant amino acid that you have. It’s actually called L-glutamine and its purpose is to help repair the gut.

In today’s episode, Dr. Martin talks about several reasons that L-glutamine is important for your gut. The study that came out is showing 5 things that L-glutamine does.

One thing it does is stop dysbiosis, which is the invasion of the third army in your gut. It builds up your good army to prevent yeast, fungus and candida from thriving. This is the reason why Dr. Martin likes bone broth, because it’s packed with L-glutamine.

Listen in as Dr. Martin goes over the 4 other benefits of glutamine.

Dr. Martin breaks down an interesting study about neurogenesis, which is the regeneration of neurons, the nerve cells in your brain. The key factor in regenerating your brain is something called Brain Derived Neurotrophic Factor, or BDNF. It’s essentially a gauge for how much regenerative power you have.

The study shared 4 specific things you can do to increase your BDNF. Implementing exercise, the real vitamin E, was one of them. Researchers were able to increase the BDNF of elderly individuals at high risk for Alzheimer's and dementia by 1800% just by getting them to exercise!

Don’t miss today’s episode to learn the other items, and two more that Dr. Martin suggests.

Sep 30, 2021

Dr. Martin shares a troubling headline that’s saying obesity has doubled since 2018 in the United States. The biggest headline continues to be the virus, but that's not killing the most people, not even by a long shot. Obesity kills 2.8 million people a year in the US!

We have an unhealthy obsession with processed foods! Bad oils, crappy carbs and sugars all contribute to metabolic disease. We really need to break up with these bad foods. Dr. Martin admits breaking up is hard to do, but we need to do it – our lives depend on it!

Don’t miss this eye-opening episode!

Dr. Martin shares a small study showing how Alzheimer’s was reversed in patients. Not just stopped, but reversed! What’s encouraging is the study didn’t look at genetics, but instead at lifestyle. They looked at Alzheimer's the way it should be, as a metabolic disease.

Many people think that Alzheimer’s is simply aging of the brain, when it’s really not that at all. It’s a neurodegenerative disease, and this study is showing how lifestyle changes can dramatically affect its progression.

Dr. Martin unpacks the study in today’s episode. He shares the changes they made resulting in this breakthrough discovery!

According to Dr. Martin, there is not an organ more misdiagnosed than the thyroid gland. Your thyroid controls your metabolism, like the gas pedal in your car, but it never acts independently on its own. It’s subject to a lot of things going on in your body.

A recent study is showing that your thyroid will not work properly without proper levels of selenium or iodine. The study has prompted Dr. Martin to talk about the causes of a sluggish thyroid. He brings up 17 unexplained symptoms that could point to a sluggish thyroid.

Don’t miss today’s informative episode!

Sep 24, 2021

A study published in July in the Journal of Neurology is showing how cancer slowed down rapidly when sugar and carbs were eliminated from the diet. The research was done by a cancer biologist studying aggressive brain and spinal cord cancer.

Dr. Martin shares how we are all battling cancer on a daily basis. It takes 5 years for cancer to grow to the size of a pen tip, but what accelerates that growth is sugar! Cancer needs fuel to grow, and sugars and carbs cause it to, “grow, grow, grow,” as Dr. Martin says.

What we need to do is cut out the carbs and the sugars and DIM out your estrogen. DIM is short for diindolylmethane and it helps balance estrogen levels in your body. You're never going to get away from estrogen, but Dr. Martin shares ways to reduce your exposure to it.

One of the big things we're seeing in this day and age is a deficiency in zinc, or vitamin Z as Dr. Martin likes to call it. If you eat red meat, vitamin S, you’re getting zinc and you don’t need to worry about taking it as a supplement.

So where do we see zinc deficiencies? In those who primarily eat plant-based diets. Vegans and vegetarians are at risk because there’s not enough zinc in vegetables. Humans need to be eating from the animal kingdom to get zinc.

Listen to today’s episode to learn how your immune system doesn’t work without zinc. Dr. Martin also shares two other groups of people that are susceptible to zinc deficiencies. Don’t miss this informative episode!

A study out of the University College in London, England is showing that patients with rheumatoid arthritis also have leaky gut. The study is confirming something Dr. Martin has been saying for 40 years… that all autoimmune disorders originate in the gut, a leaky gut.

In today’s episode, Dr. Martin goes over signs you can look for to see if you have leaky gut syndrome. The first one is that you have an autoimmune disorder. Sjogren's, MS, and even Parkinson's are examples of autoimmune disorders.

The second is the overuse of antibiotics and prescription drugs, which can lead to dysbiosis in the gut. It basically means you have more bad bacteria than good bacteria in your gut.

Don’t miss this episode to learn the other signs you may have leaky gut!

Sep 20, 2021

The CDC is showing that 61% of the population in North America have reported weight gain in the last 18 months. The average weight gain is 15 pounds!

Dr. Martin is calling this The Netflix Syndrome. People have been staying home, the schools were closed, the shut downs occurred. People have not been getting exercise or even getting out. They’re staying home and watching Netflix.

In addition to this, the National Health Institute is saying if you gain 11 pounds you have almost an 80% increase in your risk of developing Type II diabetes. This information isn’t getting out to the general public. We’re not being told how to better protect ourselves from viruses and bacteria. This bothers Dr. Martin!

Sep 17, 2021

A Bible verse that Dr. Martin loves is Proverbs 23:23. It says, “get the truth and never sell it.”

In today’s episode, Dr. Martin discusses the 7 Pillars of Truth, as far as your health is concerned. He urges listeners to “get the truth” in the overarching principles he consistently teaches about.

The 7 things that will help you stay healthy are better food choices, water, exercise, sleep, managing stress, gut health, and vitamin D. Dr. Martin teaches on the importance of each of these items.

Sep 16, 2021

There is a growing concern that men are losing their masculinity too quickly. Studies are showing that testosterone levels are down 30-40% in the last 20 years. Sperm counts over the last 30 years are down nearly 60%. One study is even showing that by the year 2045, babies won’t be conceived without artificial semen!

In today’s episode, Dr. Martin shares 7 reasons why men’s masculinity is plummeting and offers ways to correct it. He also talks about low testosterone and how changing your diet can have an immediate effect!

Dr. Martin also shares more unintended consequences of the virus, and that is our cortisol levels are through the roof. People are stressed, they’re not sleeping, and they’re stuck in a vicious cycle.

  • Unsalted nuts elevating blood pressure
  • Safety of The Reset for children?
  • Long-term fasting

According to Dr. Martin, true vitamin E is actually exercise! There is nothing negative about vitamin E. It's all good, but just realize some exercises are better for you than others.

In today’s episode, Dr. Martin talks about the most effective exercise you can do – weight resistant exercises. Lifting weights actually decreases insulin resistance, and as we age, it’s important to do something, anything to keep our muscles moving.

Dr. Martin also looks at a study that’s showing that just 2 minutes on a rebounder will drain your lymphatics. This is major news as it’s important we get the debris out of our bodies.

Sep 13, 2021

Did you know that our bodies have a self cleaning function? It’s called autophagy and it’s the body's way of cleaning out debris from our systems.

We are finding more and more about how our brain’s glymphatic, and our body’s lymphatic systems work. They’re all connected, and for autophagy to work, you need to sleep. It’s estimated that 70% of the North American population does not get a good night’s sleep. As a result, our bodies don’t clean, they don’t detox the way they should.

Join Dr. Martin in today’s episode where he shares 3 other ways to promote autophagy, your body’s self cleaning oven!
